The long tradition of pastoral farming in Greece has secured, among others, the development and preservation of Greek sheep breeds known for their ability to adapt to the Thessaly climatic conditions (cold, hot, humidity) and produce high quality milk.

The pastoral holdings that participate in TerraThessalia breed animals from those breeds. If those livestock farmers deserve a special reward it is because they stayed faithful in this farming system, inherited from ancient times, and in reality they refused to turn their animals, through intensive exploitation, into milk production machines.
